One of the world’s most prestigious and lucrative sportfishing tournaments, the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament, once again delivered an unforgettable week in Cabo San Lucas—with Texas anglers taking home some serious winnings.
Marking its 45th anniversary, this year’s event, presented by HDI Marine, traded sapphire blue for dollar green and peso gold, with a total prize purse reaching an impressive $7,452,775 USD. By the end of Saturday night’s awards ceremony in downtown Cabo, three teams—Magic Touch, Rising Sons/Magnifico, and Another Line—walked away as million-dollar victors.
🎯 Big Wins and Big Fish
Magic Touch claimed top honors with a massive 459-pound blue marlin on the final day, adding to their 344-pound catch from Day Two. Led by Captain Kim Manning, and made up of anglers from Texas and Florida, the team reeled in $2,440,850 USD, dominating multiple categories and daily jackpots. Their 54’ Bertram is based right here in Cabo.
Taking second place—by just a whisker in weight but ahead in winnings—was Rising Sons/Magnifico. Captained by Drake Sawyer, the team landed a 457-pound blue marlin, earning a total of $2,588,675 USD. The crew included anglers Jaselyn and Toby Berthelot, Justin Delassus, Darwin Elision, Garrett Fraizer, and Joseph Nixt, with Robert Tyson in the cockpit.
In third, Another Line, guided by Captain Ivan Gomez, scored a 389-pound blue, bringing home $1,742,400 USD. Their team of skilled anglers—Ruben Gonzalez, Ryan and Ric Rodenburg, Victor Garcia, Arturo Ramirez, Richard Mena, Charlie Carter, Diego Gomez, and Eduardo Jose Luis Pereyra Villaburo—rounded out the leaderboard.
🌊 Release Division Results
For teams focused on catch-and-release, two divisions ($2,000 and $3,000) recognized top performances for released blue and black marlin. The leading boats were El Suertudo (Capt. Greg Distefano), Meshuga Fish (Capt. Jeffrey “Tigger” Stolarz), and Buojie (Capt. Zach Lewis)—each earning $226,950 USD.

A record 177 teams competed this year, bringing in 10 black marlin and 113 blue marlin over three action-packed days.
